January Favorites 2017
I thought I was just celebrating the start of 2017?! The end of January is here so it’s time to recap what my favorites were for the month. I surprised myself with having more skin care (Korean brands dominated here!) than makeup. You’ll recognize quite a few of the products as I’ve mentioned them before, so this will be short and sweet. Let’s get into it shall we?
Klairs Toner- I’m used to using alcohol based toners (before I got into asian skincare) so this one was a huge change, but my skin loves it. I use this with a cotton pad in the evening and it removes dead skin and skin plugs without drying my face. Love it! I’ll be doing a more in depth review of this one coming soon.
COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence- Honestly, I got this like the middle of last year, but I didn’t really fall in love with it until the weather started getting cold. I don’t have a proper day or night cream so I’ve been layering a lot of my essences/ serums. I mix this with a drop of facial oil (marula or argan) for the day time and it’s the perfect amount of moisture for my skin.
Neogen Sunsceen- I've been loving using this when my skin was dry and it was super important as part of my skin prep for makeup. See my previous post here for my review.
Klairs Vitamin C Drops- If you want to glow sans makeup then get this! I raved about it in an earlier post here.
Heimish All Clean Balm- An oil cleanser that doesn’t burn my eyes?! Yes! I can finally remove my makeup tear free! Look out for a review I'll be sharing soon.
Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder- This cleanser and exfoliator duo has made it to my shelf of must-haves. I just did a review on the entire Tatcha set and you can read more here.
Su:m 37 Secret Essence Advanced Sync Program- I talked about this in my New Year post and it's no surprise this has become my best friend (it just might make the cut for my special must-have shelf). When you think of an essence you probably think of moisture or hydration, right? I had yet to experience that until I tried this one! Other essences just felt like water (really expensive water!), but this actually felt different. When it helped with my blackheads I fell in love!
Lorac The Skinney Eyeshadow Palette in Nude- I’ve had this palette for a few years, but didn’t really like the shades so it was in the back of my vanity. I was about to throw it out, but something told me not to and ever since then I’ve actually really liked using it. These are some pretty big pans of very wearable, everyday neutrals. Maybe I’m applying makeup differently now, but this has been my go to when I don’t have time to play with my other palettes. I know for sure I'll always look pulled together with this palette so it's like my version of eyeshadows for dummies.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer- This is one of those things that don’t need an explanation. It’s that good! I got two shades (light sand + tan sand) with the same undertone so I could adjust my color with the seasons. They also double as highlight/contour products so this was a super valuable purchase for me. Yay! :)
Laura Mercier Pressed Powder Foundation- If you read my beauty gifts post then this will look familiar! This powder foundation is very finely milled so you get a super smooth look. No cake face here! I use this on days when I wear very light makeup so I set my concealer or bb cream with it. I have lots of redness in my skin and this conceals enough of it to give me pretty even skin tone. Do note that this does not control oil so oily skinned friends beware!
That's my round up of my favorites for January! Did you like any of the same things? Or do you have any recommendations? I'd love to hear from you. :)
